Irish consumer spending falls for first time in almost two years in December

Visa’s Irish Consumer Spending Index, produced by IHS Markit, which measures expenditure across all payment types (cash, cheques and electronic payments), signalled a reduction in consumer spending during December. Expenditure was down -0.3% year-on-year, following a +1.1% rise in November.
