Meet Freestyle
Freestyle is a game-changer, designed for our global network of instructors. In markets where workout planning can be challenging, or freestyling is the tradition, Freestyle allows instructors to lead seamless, effective classes with graphics support – no pre-planning required.
How Freestyle Works: Two Options, One Goal
Freestyle offers two ways to instruct on the fly:

Data Sync: Utilizes your bike's data for real-time workout graphics. Requires consistent zone maintenance by the instructor.
- Mobile App Control: Use the Intelligent Cycling Mobile App to choose displayed colour zones. Offers more coaching flexibility.

We believe in the power of visuals for indoor cycling. Freestyle offers various workout players with distinct visual representations to match class vibes and preferences.
The Player: Lays out the workout with simple graphics.
Sandbox: Creates an immersive virtual world based on your bike's input (more on that later!).
Team Player: Promotes teamwork with a group display.
Visuals: Adds dynamic graphics to match the music's energy.
No matter your class style, Freestyle ensures clear guidance AND a great visual experience for your participants.
SANDBOX: Welcome to the playground
First launched with the new Star Trac Virtual Bike, THE JOURNEY® SANDBOX now makes its Desktop App debut.
For Sandbox, we reverse-engineered The Journey's innovative algorithm, which generates a virtual world based on an indoor cycling programme in real time. Now, for the first time ever, our software creates the world around you as you go, based on the live input from your stationary bike; no pre-programmed workout needed.
As always, we've taken a "show, don't tell" approach; creating an intuitive design that doesn't need explaining. The cadence and resistance inform the incline of the road and the speed at which you travel. When you move between zones, you change lanes accordingly. You impact the virtual world around you as you change it up on the bike and get live feedback for a virtual experience found nowhere else on the market.
As with our other Freestyle workout players, you can also use the Intelligent Cycling Mobile App to control your Sandbox experience by changing colour zones remotely. This flexibility allows you to coach both on and off the bike, making this the ideal option for a class setting.
Exclusive to Selected Regions
We want to preserve and nurture our home market's rich tradition of building your own indoor cycling workouts. For this reason, Freestyle Mode will be available exclusively in select regions. This exclusivity preserves local workout traditions while expanding global support for different teaching methods.
