JYSK reaches highest point of new Distribution Centre in Lelystad
The new JYSK Distribution Centre in Lelystad has reached its highest point of 46 metres. The milestone comes as Jaroslaw Sobczyk takes on his new role as Logistics Director of JYSK’s first Distribution Centre in the Netherlands.
The highly automated Distribution Centre is being constructed right next to the Flevokust Port. The new building will cover an impressive 147,000 square metres and will include two high-bay warehouses, each 46 metres tall. With the installation of the external staircase and the cladding on one of these high bays, the highest point has now been reached.
“Construction is on schedule thanks to excellent cooperation with all parties involved. You can almost literally see the distribution centre grow every day. We’re making great strides,” says Jaroslaw Sobczyk, Logistics Director of the Distribution Centre in Lelystad.
Jaroslaw Sobczyk started his role in Lelystad earlier this summer. The 46-year-old Polish national began his career at JYSK in 2014 at the Distribution Centre in Radomsko (Poland) and has since successfully led the construction of new Distribution Centres in Bozhurishte (Bulgaria) and Ecser (Hungary).
Strong teams
In Lelystad, Sobczyk is also responsible for building strong teams. Currently, around 100 employees are working from the temporary Distribution Centre. That number is expected to grow to more than 350 once the new facility is operational.
“In the coming months, we will significantly scale up and hire many new colleagues. Initially, we’re focusing on office staff and testing new technologies in the Distribution Centre. After that, we’ll also start recruiting more warehouse employees,” Sobczyk explains.
JYSK recently organised its first family day for all employees on the grounds of the new Distribution Centre. “It was a fantastic day with activities for all ages. It was wonderful to see so many colleagues together with their families at their future workplace,” says Jaroslaw Sobczyk.
Fully operational in 2027
JYSK expects the advanced Distribution Centre to be completed by mid-2026 and to become fully operational during the course of 2027. The facility will supply stores in the Netherlands, Belgium, and France. Online orders will also be shipped directly from Lelystad, significantly reducing delivery times for customers.
