JYSK reopens bombed store in Ukraine

One year after a JYSK store in Ukraine was hit by a missile attack, the store has now been rebuilt and reopened on Thursday 11 May 2023.

A year ago, the Riviera Shopping Centre was hit by a missile attack. In the shopping centre, which is located in the town of Fontanka in the Odesa region, there is also a JYSK store that was heavily damaged by the attack.

On Thursday 11 May 2023, the JYSK employees could again welcome the customers inside, when the JYSK store and the rest of the shopping centre reopened after extensive reconstruction.

"It is a symbolic occasion that exactly one year after the devastating missile attack, we can reopen a completely rebuilt JYSK store in the Riviera Shopping Centre in Odesa. I am grateful for my colleagues who not only believe in the country's future victory, but also do what they can to make it happen as soon as possible. With this reopening, we are back to 85 open stores, which was the number before the war," says Ievegenii Ivanytsia, Country Director JYSK Ukraine.

Charitable activities for a hospital

The JYSK store, which offers 1,266 square metres of inspiration for every room in the home, has been rebuilt according to the chain's latest store concept, which was also the case before the destruction. There are a further 74 square metres of outdoor display with garden furniture.

"The reopening of the JYSK store is an important milestone for us, but we also want to give something back to the local area. Therefore, in connection with the reopening, we are launching a charity initiative where we sell support stickers, and the profits will be donated to a local hospital," says Ievegenii Ivanytsia.

In addition to the store in the Riviera Shopping Centre, JYSK has opened two new stores earlier in 2023, and the plan is to open another four stores during the summer.
