JYSK signs big investment in Bulgaria

Bulgarian Deputy Prime Minister Tomislav Donchev was present, when the final signatures were put on the agreement making it possible for JYSK to begin the construction of a new distribution Center near Sofia.

Tuesday January 19 was an important day for both JYSK and Bulgaria, as a new contract was signed allowing JYSK to begin the construction of a new distribution center in Bozhuriste near Sofia.

The contract involves JYSK and the state owned development company NCIZ, and the importance of the contract was underlined by the presence of Bulgarian Deputy Prime Minister, Tomislav Donchev, and Minister of Economy, Bozhidar Lukarski, during the signing ceremony.

»This underlines the importance of the project. Not only for JYSK but for Bulgaria and the country´s efforts to attract foreign investments as well,« says EVP Logistics in JYSK, Allan Kjærgaard.

Important to growth

JYSK expects to invest approximately 100 million EUR in the construction of the 85.000 square meters distribution center, which play an important role in terms of securing the company´s ability to serve the customers.

»JYSK is a rapidly growing company. Especially concerning the number of countries where we are present. This makes it crucial for us to develop our distribution, making sure that both our stores and our customers get their deliveries on time. This is the reason for the construction of a new distribution center in Bulgaria, which in time will serve the whole Balkan area,« says Allan Kjærgaard.

JYSK currently has distributions centers in Radomsko in Poland, Nassjö in Sweden and Uldum in Denmark. In 2015 JYSK finished the expansion of the distribution center in Sweden, and besides the work of constructing the new distribution center in Bozhuriste, the task of expanding the distribution center in Uldum in Denmark is also on the JYSK agenda for 2016, making sure that JYSK is ready for the expected growth all over the World.
