Press release -

Winner of Lindab’s Innovation Prize 2020

Lindab's newly established Innovation Prize is awarded to a company, individual or organization with a connection to the Båstad region, that can demonstrate an innovative and sustainable product or service, with commercial and/or socio-economic potential that can be put into practice.

This year's winner is Båstad Makerspace.

Båstad Makerspace is a creative workshop, aimed at children and young people, that encourages creativity, problem solving and technology development. Båstad Makerspace is run on a non-profit basis and was started in the spring of 2019, by the entrepreneur Jonas Blanck.

“I saw a need to increase interest in technology in a fun way. Technical solutions will play a central role in resolving the challenges society is facing and we need to stimulate children's curiosity for these areas at an early age. Båstad also needed a complement to sports where we can encourage children and young people at an early age to learn more about technologies for the future, such as 3D printing, robotics and programming", says Jonas Blanck.

Nicklas Friberg, Head of Lindab Innovation Hub, presented the award during a small ceremony. “We at Lindab want to encourage curiosity and innovation, especially among young people. Makerspace does just that by showing how exciting and fun technology can be for all ages. Makerspace is a very good initiative that we would like to support ", says Nicklas.

Båstad Makerspace receives SEK 30,000 as prize money. This is money that Jonas Blanck wants to use to create an innovation competition for young people, as part of Båstad Makerspace’s program.
