Press release -
LK launches the next generation water meter - the LK CubicMeter
We've previously reported on the collaboration between LK and Quandify (formerly Labtrino) and the new, intelligent and unique water meter - the LK CubicMeter. After an investment that saw LK become a joint owner of Quandify, the product is now out on the shelves.
The LK CubicMeter is a non-invasive water meter and leakage detector with a unique design that means it can be installed on existing pipes (including PE-X and PAL) in a range from 16 - 25mm. As the meter is fitted to the outside of the pipe, the need to cut the pipe during the installation of the water meter is eliminated, saving both time and money. The system detects dripping and water leaks, which currently cost insurance companies billions of SEK per year, just in Sweden.
"The launch of the LK CubicMeter is the first step in the collaboration and there will be more product news coming. We are at the forefront of IoT and there's a really big platform available with a high standard of technical capability that suits us well for continued development and broadening our connected products," says Ramtin Massoumzadeh, CEO and founder of Quandify.
In Europe, there are requirements for the installation of water meters in every apartment and, in Sweden, we are now seeing new IMD (individual measurement and billing) requirements from 2021 for heating and hot water for certain parts of the existing multiple housing stock. Using machine learning and artificial intelligence the LK CubicMeter can provide a cost-effective measurement and also help to improve the environmental footprint of the company by delivering an intelligent and affordable system for reduced water and energy consumption*.
"The team at LK are constantly working on development and creating smart and sustainable products and systems that simplify the everyday lives of our customers - today and in the future. The LK CubicMeter helps residents reduce their consumption of both water and energy, thus paving the way for a more sustainable and mindful public and private property sector,” says Michael Söderberg, CEO, LK Systems.
* According to studies, implementation of individual water meters reduces consumption by around 30%. For a normal average family, not only is water consumption reduced but also carbon dioxide emissions and possible leakage costs.
