  • ICP has a theory to improve the smallholder farmer families’ livelihoods

    In 2001 Löfbergs co-founded International Coffee Partners (ICP), where eight family-owned coffee companies contribute to the development of small-scale coffee farmers. ICP’s vision is to improve smallholder farmer families’ livelihoods. ICP is committed to long-term projects and long-term impact in the coffee sustainability sector. That’s why ICP recently reworked its Theory of Change.

    Löfbergs shares its sustainability successes and challenges in its sustainability report. The family-owned coffee roaster is now being awarded the Hallbars Sustainability Report Awards for its latest report. As a national winner, Löfbergs will be representing Sweden in the international final.

  • International Coffee Partners projects reached almost 49,000 smallholder farmers in 2019

    ​In 2001 Löfbergs co-founded International Coffee Partners (ICP), where a number of other family-owned coffee companies contribute to the development of small-scale coffee farmers. ICP now has released its Annual Report 2019. In the past year, ICP-projects reached almost 49,000 smallholder coffee farmer families in six regions around the globe.

    Sweden is one of the top coffee consuming countries in the world. But are at the same time throwing away 300 million litres of coffee every year. An unnecessary waste of the earth’s resources. Löfbergs is now presenting an initiative to help people make the most of their coffee. The coffee is not only regarded as an end product, but also as a raw material for new products in a circular economy.

  • ​A circular game changer

    The Löfbergs group is working to close the packaging loop and contribute to a circular economy. The family-owned company recently conducted a successful test of producing fully recyclable packages made of 50% bio-based polymers. The new packaging will be used by the Danish brand, Peter Larsen Kaffe, and is approved for recycling in Denmark. It is a truly game changing package.

  • ​Change in management at Löfbergs – Lars Appelqvist moves onto another job

    After 22 years at Löfbergs, of which 12 years as CEO, Lars Appelqvist is moving onto a new job. By the turn of the year, he will take up the position as Executive Vice President for HKScan’s operations in Sweden. Lars will remain at Löfbergs until then, which gives the company plenty of time to find his successor.

  • ​Lars Appelqvist appointed vice president of FoodDrinkEurope

    A unanimous board has appointed Lars Appelqvist, CEO of Löfbergs and chairman of The Swedish Food Federation, vice president of the European interbranch organisation FoodDrinkEurope. FoodDrinkEurope represents the industry at an EU level in order to create good terms for all European food companies.

  • Major investment from Löfbergs – new CEO of Löfbergs Finland appointed

    Löfbergs continues to grow in Finland. The Swedish coffee roaster is now taking the next step and establishes a Finnish subsidiary, of which Kent Pettersson will be CEO as from 1 July. Kent is currently working as sales director at Löfbergs, in charge of food retail in Sweden and Finland.

Coffee regions in which the organization is implementing projects are increasingly affected as well.

  • ​Löfbergs chosen as the official coffee partner of the UROS LIVE arena

    UROS LIVE has signed a coffee partnership agreement with Löfbergs, meaning that both hot and cold Löfbergs coffee products will be sold at the arena that will open in Tampere, Finland, in late 2021. The multipurpose arena with up to 15,000 seats will be one of the world’s most modern venues. The arena will host a wide variety of events from concerts and conferences to world-class ice hockey.

    The CEO of Löfbergs, Lars Appelqvist, has been appointed to the board of directors of the European interbranch organisation FoodDrinkEurope. Lars was nominated by the national interbranch organisations in Sweden, Denmark, Finland and Estonia.

    While worldwide coffee consumption is growing, the inequalities in the supply chain are becoming even more significant. Smallholder farmers, who do most of the work, earn the least money, while large companies capture most the profit. This coffee paradox is well-known, but we still haven’t seen the solutions for a real change.

    A coffee for everyone. With the new Equality Light Roast, Löfbergs takes a stand for the equal value of all people. Löfbergs donates SEK 1 for every sold package to the Rainbow Fund, which works for a world where everyone is treated the same, no matter who you are or who you love.

    The new European champions Team Hasselborg return to Canada for the next event of the Grand Slam of Curling. They bring with them a new cooperation agreement with the Swedish coffee roaster Löfbergs, which recently established in Canada.

  • ​Kathrine Löfberg receives The Golden Gavel Award 2019

    Kathrine Löfberg receives the prestigious award The Golden Gavel for outstanding performance as chair. She is awarded for her exemplary way of developing professional board work in a modern family business. The Golden Gavel Award was established by the Swedish Academy of Directors and Deloitte.

The Swedish coffee roaster Löfbergs continues to impress the Canadian market with ICE, an organic and Fairtrade labelled iced coffee. This time as a winner in the 2019 Top New Products Awards presented by Convenience Store News Canada.
