    Christina Quarles – Living in the Wake opened at Kistefos

    For the 2025 season, Kistefos is proud to present Living in the Wake, the first major solo exhibition in the Nordic region by acclaimed American artist Christina Quarles (b. 1985). Staged within the architectural landmark The Twist, the exhibition offers a comprehensive survey of Quarles’ work and includes two entirely new paintings created specifically for the show.

    Nairy Baghramian – new permanent sculpture unveiled at Kistefos

    For the opening of the 2025 season, Kistefos was delighted to unveil the 56th permanent work in the museum’s sculpture park: Resting Arms by the Iranian-born, German artist Nairy Baghramian (b. 1971). The sculpture, a highly abstracted portrait of primary joints in the body, was made in white Carrara marble and steel.

    Christina Quarles – Living in the Wake åpnet på Kistefos

    På sesongåpningen til Kistefos søndag 4. mai åpnet Living in the Wake – den første store soloutstillingen i Norge med den anerkjente amerikanske kunstneren Christina Quarles (f. 1985). Utstillingen vises i det arkitektoniske landemerket The Twist og gir en omfattende presentasjon av Quarles’ kunstnerskap, inkludert to helt nye malerier laget spesielt for anledningen.

    Kistefos presents 2025 programme

    In 2025, Kistefos will present an exhibition programme with works by three internationally renowned contemporary artists: Christina Quarles, Kathleen Ryan and Nairy Baghramian. Through the theme ‘The Corporeal and Intersectionality’, this year's programme invites an in-depth reflection on the body as both physical form and cultural symbol, while offering visually striking artistic experiences.

    Kistefos Museum unveils Kader Attia’s Whistleblower

    Kistefos Museum is delighted to announce the unveiling of Whistleblower, six captivating glass sculptures by internationally acclaimed artist Kader Attia. The sculptures, revealed to the public on August 22, 2024, are nestled in the tranquil forest south of The Twist.

    Hurvin Anderson: Salon Paintings opened at Kistefos Museum

    Kistefos is delighted to announce the first solo exhibition in Norway of paintings and drawings by acclaimed British artist Hurvin Anderson. Salon Paintings surveys Anderson’s celebrated Barbershop Series, from the earliest Barbershop paintings and related Studio Drawings he made in 2006, through to new paintings on view for the first time with which the series culminates.

    Kistefos is delighted to announce the first solo exhibition in Norway of paintings and drawings by acclaimed British artist Hurvin Anderson. The exhibition focuses on Anderson’s celebrated Barbershop series as a lens through which to understand Anderson’s wider practice and unique sense of history, memory and place.

    Kistefos is delighted to announce a new season opening on May 4th, 2024. British artist Hurvin Anderson is this year's artist in The Twist with the critically acclaimed Salon Paintings exhibition. Italian artist Tatiana Trouvé is this year's sculptor. The «Springboard» project offers young curators and artworld professionals valuable museum experience at an international level.
