Workery+, state-of-the-art work hub in Helsinki, wins “Smartest Building in the World" Award

YIT Workery+, a unique and innovative concept addressing the future of work, has been awarded The Smart Building Award 2021 at the internationally acclaimed Real Estate Futureproof event 2021. This world-class concept was created by YIT, the largest Finnish and a significant North European urban developer and construction company.

The awarding association Smart Building Certification evaluated the “smartness” of buildings on criteria including building usage, user experience and collaboration, building performance, building environment, integrative design, safety, and security.

When people come and go, premises need to change and adapt to space usage. YIT Workery+ is a new kind of work hub addressing the future of work. The new work hub is located in Vallila, a neighborhood in Helsinki, Finland.

With commercial properties combined with remote workstations and the latest real estate technology, Workery+ promotes better working conditions through flexibility, comfort, and hotel-level services. In Workery+, companies secure the workspaces for the desired number of employees and pay for space according to use. This includes flexible pricing models and flexible, smart commercial properties that do not require years of commitment.

Opened in May 2021, the new work hub is based on innovative and intelligent real estate technology. Nuuka’s products are used to connect the property to the cloud to provide Building Management System (BMS) data to the hub’s different applications. In addition, Nuuka ensures and diagnoses the proper functioning of the building 24/7 and flags the relevant errors by notifying property management with relevant data and maintenance instructions. Nuuka uses industry-leading AI to ensure indoor room temperatures and carbon dioxide levels stay optimal for the changing and flexible property usage.

Being able to work in healthy air is extremely important to modern knowledge workers. It doesn’t only mean better cognitive performance but also improved safety in times of pandemic. Our unique capability to adapt to the changing use of the space is proven to be great value for tenants and real estate owners,” says Tuomas Pippola, CEO at Nuuka.

Securing the win in the international Real Estate Futureproof event 2021 means that the audience and jury recognize the need for new ways of building workplaces and manage them.

We are pleased to see the jury and tenants acknowledge the value of a new service concept driven by the changing need for hybrid work. Customers are clearly looking for new solutions in the times of creating exit strategies, and we are happy to meet those requirements with Workery+ where we combine superb user experience, sustainability, and wellbeing says Anders Stenbäck, VP of Offering and Services at YIT.
