Nysnø invests in new HitecVision renewables fund

Through the newly established New Energy Fund (NEF), HitecVision will invest in renewable energy production, green energy infrastructure, and decarbonisation. The established fund manager has closed the fund, joined by Nysnø Climate Investments.

Stavanger (15.08.2022) – Nysnø invests EUR 15 million in HitecVision's New Energy Fund and EUR 6 million in a co-investment in Vårgrønn, the fund's first offshore wind investment.

"Increased investments in renewable energy, electrification and decarbonisation are key to reducing global greenhouse gas emissions and achieving a net-zero energy sector by 2050. The fund’s investment universe is focused precisely where the potential for reducing greenhouse gas emissions is greatest and in markets that we believe are growing," says Investment Director at Nysnø, Lars Hvam.

Through the New Energy Fund, HitecVision will continue its well-established investment strategy to the renewables sector with the aim of developing sustainable and profitable companies. The fund has already employed EUR 540 million through investments in green industrial value chains.

“It is positive that capital is quickly put into work to serve the energy transformation, and we are proud to contribute capital to projects such as the world's largest offshore wind farm in Doggerbank through the fund's investment in Vårgrønn, the value chain for carbon capture through Oslo Hafslund Celsio and renewable energy production, electrification, and energy efficiency through Aneo. For us, this is proof that HitecVision are quick to deliver on the strategic focus areas set for the fund," Hvam continues.

"We are very pleased that we got a specialized climate investor like Nysnø onboard early on, and look forward to further cooperation to accelerate the green transition," says Erlend Basmo Ellingsen, Senior Partner at HitecVision.

The fund closed at EUR 875 million, joined by Nysnø Climate Investments and other investors such as i.e. Sparebank1 Forsikring, Ardian, Första AP fund, KLP, Lacera and Manulife. In addition, EUR 175 million in co-investment capital was raised for Vårgrønn.
