op5 announces Management Packs to simplify monitoring of Cisco switches

To further simplify the deployment of monitoring of Cisco switches, server monitoring company op5 has released three new Cisco Management Packs as a part of its comprehensive server and network monitoring support.

Maintaining a unified view of today’s sophisticated IT environments is becoming increasingly important to secure the performance and availability of business critical services to the organisation. To reduce complexity and the skills required to deploy unified monitoring, leading server monitoring provider op5 is continuously releasing Management Packs as a part of its comprehensive server monitoring offering. Existing packages support common server and network devices from HP, Microsoft, Citrix, Dell and Linux. The most recent contribution to the successful initiative is three packages targeted towards Cisco users.

The Cisco Management Packs provides significant time-savings when deploying new devices within the IT environment. The Management Packs also helps reducing security risks by making sure that all configurations are correct from the start.

The three Cisco Management Packs offer the following capabilities:

  • Cisco Modular Switch – Adds monitoring of Cisco Modular Switch hardware: card, module, fan, power-supply, voltage and temperature over SNMP.
  • Cisco UCS Chassi – Adds monitoring of Cisco UCS Chassi hardware: fan, power-supply, voltage and temperature over SNMP.
  • Cisco switch – Adds monitoring of fan status, fault summary, IO card status, power supply and temperature status for Cisco switches over SNMP.

“These new Management Packs complements our existing monitoring for port status, IP traffic flows and our ability to receive both traps and syslog from the Cisco infrastructure layer. As it all feeds in to our unified monitoring view - it greatly enhances both depth and details of monitoring as well as the ability for the system owner to created more detailed management packs to be easily distributed out to the organisation. says Jan Josephson, CTO at op5.
