Investing in a new Smash! production line at the Nidar Factory
Smash! has seen phenomenal growth and is now Norway’s second best-selling candy. The success is spreading to more and more countries, and to meet the growing demand, a new production line is being established at the Nidar factory in Trondheim.
Orkla Snacks is now investing in a completely new and modern production line for Smash! at the Nidar factory. Once fully operational, it will double production capacity.
“Smash! is our biggest product, and perhaps our greatest success ever. We saw growth of over 20% last year and see significant potential for further expansion. This investment ensures we can meet increasing demand in the years to come,” says Jan Wegner Adolfsen, CEO of Orkla Snacks Norway.
The flavor combination of sweet, salty, and crunchy chocolate snack has also been a hit outside Norway. Smash! is now available in eight different countries.
“The fact that the investment is being made at the Nidar factory is no coincidence. The factory is a cornerstone business in Trondheim, with a strong professional environment, high expertise, and dedicated employees,” says Adolfsen.
The new line is scheduled for installation in the third quarter of 2026, with full operations expected in 2027 – at which point production will double.
