Osaka Prefectural Government holds International Life Science Event in the coming October

Osaka is home to a large concentration of pharmaceutical companies, universities, national research institutes, and government agencies.
As a result, the below 3 distinct life science clusters have formed within the Osaka prefecture:

  • "Saito" (Saito Life Science Park) for drug discovery
  • "Kento" (Northern Osaka Health and Biomedical Innovation Town) for healthcare
  • "Nakanoshima Qross" for future medicine, including regenerative medicine

Each cluster is advancing unique initiatives aligned with its specialized focus.

Osaka Prefectural Government is also aiming to position the health and medical industry as a leading sector and is implementing a variety of initiatives to support this goal.

The Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan(The Osaka-Kansai Expo), currently underway under the theme “Designing Future Society for Our Lives,” is showcasing innovations aimed at shaping a better future. During the Expo period, Osaka will host a series of international life sciences business events and symposia, bringing together global experts, researchers, and industry leaders to discuss cutting-edge developments and foster collaboration in the field.

1 ”Future Medical EXPO” International Symposium


Nakanoshima Qross is a unique International Hub for Future Medicine where medical institutions, corporations, startups, support organizations, and others are consolidated under one roof.

In Osaka, we are promoting the industrialization of Future Medicine, including regenerative medicine, through this hub. To this end, we are implementing a range of initiatives aimed at building a Future Medical ecosystem, transforming global healthcare, and contributing to the international community.

At this year’s the Osaka-Kansai Expo, regenerative medicine products derived from iPS cells has been exhibited.

To promote the development of these regenerative medicine products and accelerate the industrialization of Future Medicine, we will host the international symposium “Future Medical EXPO.” This event aims to showcase the potential of the life sciences sector in Osaka and the Kansai region—as well as the unique strengths of Nakanoshima Qross—to domestic and international investors and stakeholders.

2. EU- Japan Biotech & Pharma Partnering Conference

This is a partnering event between Japanese and European companies, celebrating its 10th anniversary this year, and will be held on Monday, October 6, at Hotel Hankyu International in central Osaka.

Participation in this event in Osaka in prior to BioJapan has become a standard part of the itinerary for many European companies.
After the COVID-19 pandemic, the number of participants has continued to grow steadily each year. In 2024, the event welcomed 159 companies from 22 countries, with a total of 302 meetings conducted, including those held online at the end of September.

This year, as in the previous year, we are preparing a wide range of contents, including a poster exhibition at the venue, luncheon pitch sessions between European and Osaka/Kansai-based companies, an evening networking reception, and an excursion tour on the following day, October 7.
We look forward to welcoming many participants from Europe and beyond to this dynamic and growing event.

    3. Media Briefing Session on Future Healthcare and Regenerative Medicine

    In prior to the upcoming partnering event, Osaka Prefecture is planning to host a media briefing session focusing on Future Medicine, including regenerative medicine.

    This session will provide overview of the latest initiatives and cutting-edge developments in the life sciences sector by Osaka-based companies. It is designed especially for media representatives, including those who may not be familiar with the field of life sciences.

    The event will be held in a hybrid format (in-person and online), with simultaneous interpretation in Japanese and English. We also plan to collect questions from participants in advance.

    Details will be published on our official website as they become available. We warmly invite members of the media to take this opportunity to gain valuable insights into Japan’s and Osaka’s evolving life sciences landscape.
