Catifa Carta, Produced in PaperShell Material, Receives Honorable Mention at the Compasso d’Oro ADI Award
Catifa Carta by Arper has received an Honorable Mention at the Compasso d’Oro ADI Award, founded by Gio Ponti in 1954 and today one of the most prestigious international design awards.
The chair shell is produced using PaperShell’s fossil-free biogenic composite material, bringing biogenic material substitution into one of Europe’s most recognised contemporary chair designs.
“Catifa Carta is the first chair with a carbon-negative shell, meaning it stores more CO₂ than it generates. We never stop asking ourselves how our company can become more responsible through new and different approaches to design; this important recognition from ADI encourages us to continue our research into materials and processes that reduce the impact of our products through an increasingly circular approach,” says Claudio Feltrin, President of Arper.
“The pioneers are companies like Arper - willing and brave enough to challenge fossil and linear logic entirely. Seeing Catifa Carta recognised by ADI shows that biogenic material substitution is no longer a future vision; it is already becoming part of contemporary industrial design. Architecture and construction is the next frontier.” says Anders Breitholtz, Founder and CEO of PaperShell.
With the recognition, Catifa Carta becomes part of the ADI Compasso d’Oro Historical Collection.
