BagoSphere celebrates Inaugural Culminating Ceremony for its Pilot Project 2011

Bago City, Negros Occidental – BagoSphere proudly hosted its Inaugural Culminating Ceremony for its Pilot Project at Bago City Community Centre on Monday, 12th December 2011. 14 graduates were honoured for their commitment, hard work and achievement at BagoSphere. In attendance were numerous distinguished guests, including Mayor Ramon D. Torres, Attorney Jocelle Batapa-Sigue, representatives from Bago City Government, NGOs and various colleges, call centres leaders; and also families and friends of the graduates.

The theme of the graduation ceremony, “Witness Our Change, Share Our Success” celebrates the transformation of 14 rural youths through 4 months of intensive English language and technical training. Other than equipping students with the proper skill set for the call centre industry, BagoSphere’s pilot project has also facilitated employment opportunities for these students who mainly come from underprivileged families in Bago City. Out of the 14 graduates, 12 of them have successfully secured employment with two major call centres in Bacolod, namely Transcom and Panasiatic Solutions. The project has provided a holistic education which also focused strongly on character building for every individual.

“Despite their high school graduate background, BagoSphere’s students have shown that they are equally competent as their college graduate counterparts,” said Therese L. Nolasco, Human Resource Manager of Panasiatic Solutions. “Most of all, I was deeply impressed by their significantly higher levels of motivation and commitment. I look forward to BagoSphere’s future batches of students, whom I believe will be of quality calibre and character.”

Dr Deborah E. Singson, College Department Head from Bago City College also acknowledged the transformation of one graduate, Ramon Camilo Murillo. “I am very touched to see how much Ramon has changed over the 4 months of training by Bagosphere. Back then, he spoke only a few words of English. But now he is confident and fluent as the Master of Ceremony for this graduation!”

With the graduation of this inaugural class, BagoSphere plans to expand classes in Bago City and benefit more youths in 2012.
