Caution! Pharmaceutical residue in your wastewater

Our second last installation of our pilot study on removal of pharmaceutical residue will be completed this week. The image speaks for itself - we need to be cautious about the existence of pharmaceutical residue and other micropollutants in our waste waters.

The current WWTP is using a biological activated sludge process, like many other Swedish waste water treatment plants. The unique approach in this study is that it is performed at 10 different waste water treatment plants with different process conditions and treatment methods as well as different population structure. The results from the whole study will be analyzed during this spring.
