Red Dot Award: Product Design 2027 opens for entries with international jury panel

Entries for the Red Dot Award: Product Design 2027 are now open. Until 15 January 2027, manufacturers and designers from around the world can enter their products in the competition. In March 2027, the international Red Dot Jury, comprising around 40 independent design experts, will come together to assess the entries. Over the course of a multi-day evaluation process, the jury will test, discuss and assess each individual entry. The winners will be honoured at the award ceremony in Essen on 13 July 2027.

International expertise for an individual assessment

The Red Dot Jury brings together experts from different countries, design cultures and disciplines. Their diverse professional and cultural perspectives provide the basis for a comprehensive assessment of the products entered.

New members joining the jury this year include Johanna Kaartinen (Finland), Cheaw Hwei Low (Singapore), Yoshiaki Osada (Japan) and Joe Slatter (UK). With their different professional backgrounds, they add further expertise to the international panel.

Each product is assessed individually

The evaluation takes place as part of a multi-day process during which the Red Dot Jury tests, discusses and assesses each individual entry.

The products are not in direct competition with one another. Instead, the jury assesses each product individually, taking into account its specific purpose, design and use. The jury members examine the products closely, test their functions and contribute their respective professional expertise to the joint discussion.

Based on this intensive evaluation, the jury decides which products will receive the distinctions “Red Dot” and “Red Dot: Best of the Best”.

Registration in three entry phases

Manufacturers and designers can enter their products from 14 September 2026 until 15 January 2027. The registration period is divided into three entry phases:

• Early Bird: 14 September to 9 October 2026
• Regular: 10 October to 11 December 2026
• Latecomer: 12 December 2026 to 15 January 2027

Young Professionals Application Day

On 18 November 2026, the Young Professionals Application Day is aimed at young designers who graduated no more than five years ago.

For 24 hours, emerging design talents can enter the draw for one of 50 free registration places in the Red Dot Award: Product Design 2027.

An award can help Young Professionals showcase their design skills internationally, build professional contacts and support the market launch of their products.

International presentation of the award-winning products

The products selected by the jury will be presented to an international audience across a range of platforms. These include presentations at the Red Dot Design Museum Essen, international exhibitions, the Red Dot Design Yearbook and Red Dot’s digital channels.

In addition, winners can use the Red Dot Label to communicate their products’ distinction.

The achievements of the winners will be celebrated at the award ceremony in Essen on 13 July 2027.
