Together towards brighter times!

1 October marks the opening of the twenty-second edition of Lights in Alingsås. The theme for this year is ‘Together’.

The world has changed quite a bit since the last ‘normal’ edition of Lights in Alingsås was held in 2019. The pandemic may not be over yet, but the time has come to slowly start reconvening, albeit at a safe distance.

Autumn is around the corner, yet even as the days are getting shorter, brighter times await. Lights in Alingsås wants to kindle that sparkle of hope by turning on its lights and creating opportunities for visitors to gather once again.

This year’s Lights in Alingsås will light your way to better times.

The same seven lighting designers who were scheduled to participate in last year’s workshop now get the chance to sparkle and create this year’s installations. They are joined by roughly 50 lighting design students from the KTH Royal Institute of Technology and the Jönköping University. (Our partnership with international schools will remain on hold until the situation stabilises.) New routines have been established ahead of this year’s workshop to ensure all participants’ safety and to comply with the current Covid-19 guidelines.

The trail this autumn will be about 3 kilometers long and will feature six installations spread out through the heart of Alingsås. Both the trail and the guided tours we are offering once again will start in Åmanska Parken. Those who would like to explore the installations independently can purchase a digital guided tour in the Lights in Alingsås app.
There are several additional installations and surprises for visitors to discover along the way.

Barnens Lights, which is sponsored by Sparbanken Alingsås, will be held in Museiparken. Designer and drama teacher Malin Wallin returns to create this child-friendly installation.

Lights in Alingsås will take place from 1 October to 7 November. Tickets for the guided tours have to be booked in advance and will be released on Ticketmaster later in September.
