As 2022 started off with the possibilities of a new future where we strive for longlivity and cherish every product even more, we reflected on the caracteristics of our past icons and want to highlight some of our well rewarded pieces.

Exhibited products:

ÎLE carpet designed by Piero Lissoni in 2004 for ASPLUND.

The île carpets has been popular carpets ever since its launch. Since the demand of larger carpets has increased the past years, we have added two more sizes to the family. When designing these rugs Piero Lissoni had the transition spaces in mind; The spaces that did not naturally have a given position for a rectangular or round carpet. He wanted to twist our perspective and let us perceive a room from a new angle and with an open mind. These rugs have been proven more utile and has become one of our most popular rugs. This really creates a warm feeling – an island – in those difficult spaces.

PALAIS Royal table designed by Anya Sebton & Eva Lilja Löwenhielm in 2018. -Our most well known and rewarded piece since the launch four years ago.

This iconic table started a craving for column tables on a market where there were close to none at the time.

The Palais series received several rewards in 2018. The award Furniture of the year was given by two top interior magazines in Sweden Sköna hem and Residence. Palais also received the Archiproducts Design Awards and the Honorary nominee at the ICFF Awards.

The designers description: ”When Sandra Adrian Asplund asked us for a kitchen island as a piece of furniture, we noticed a gap in the market for this type of product. It should be practical enough for kitchen use, yet elegant enough to roll into your dining room” - Mats Broberg, Broberg & Ridderstråle design studio.

FRAME Semi Cabinet designed by Anya Sebton & Eva LIlja löwenhielm in 2013.

The inspiration for this cabinet came from old glass Museum display vitrines. And the designers wanted to maka a neater size and a more functional cabinet for displaying the most precious pieces in a home and cover up whats needed to be hidden.

The cabinets’ minimalism and clean elegant character is recognizable from its simple aesthetics of its two different sized doors and its twined leather handles.

TATI Console, designed by Broberg & Ridderstråle in 2011.

The TATI series of tables and consoles are possible to mix and match in 7 different metal frame colors and with 9 different top and shelve variants. Tati has become an ASPLUND classic and a must have within the Swedish household. The designer duo found inspiration in the french comedian, film director and actor, Jacques Tati’s sceneries .The specific characteristics of the rounded curves comes from the always smoking Tati’s classic pipe´s silhouette.

The Tati series has through the years become a part of ASPLUND’s signum. The simplicity in the shapes of the frame together with the contrasting top material, creates an elegant harmony. A timeless design which is one of ASPLUND’s key values.

THE ASPLUND Values

MADE IN SWEDEN

ASPLUND remains determined and committed to keep most of our manufacturing in Sweden. This way we are contributing to and invigorating the Swedish furniture industry and also maintaining original core values of Swedish design and manufacturing. Many pieces in our collection involves expertise from several small factories to get them up to standard. All factories specialized in their own field.

ASPLUND IDENTITY AND GOALS

The ASPLUND Collection has a style that is something functional and elegant, something Swedish yet international. And something we want to have and use in our own spaces. Pieces with a subtle identity in high quality which we believe will last for a long time. Not only because of the well worked through design and function, but also since we choose to have a handmade or a semi manual production where everything is made to order. In that way we do not have any leftover stock and only produce as many pieces as actually needed. As a producer we see it as our responsibility to make sure that our production take place under both ethically and environmentally sustainable conditions. We are always working on improving not only our quality, but also to reach our sustainability goals.
