Two Award Winners meet

They are illustrators of the same age and have both been selected as recipients of the world's largest award for children's and young adult literature. But they come from different continents and have totally different artistic expressions. On Monday, May 30th, this year's recipient of the Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award, Shaun Tan, meets the Belgian illustrator Kitty Crowther, the 2010 recipient.

On March 29th the illustrator and author Shaun Tan from Australia was announced as the 2011 recipient of the Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award;

– Of course, it’s an incredible honor to simply be considered for this award, let alone to win it. It does give me pause to reflect on my work as a whole within an international context, writes Shaun Tan in a statement on his website www.shauntan.net.

The Belgian illustrator Kitty Crowther received the Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award last year. Since Kitty Crowther received the world's largest award for children's and young adult literature, much has happened. Her books have been published in new editions around the world and she has been widely reported in international media.

– I've met journalists, TV, Radio on a variety of places around the world during the year. They are curious to know more about the award, but I often see a bright light in their eyes during the conversation: Oh, children's books can actually be interesting!

Monday May 30th at 3:00 p.m.
The Riksdag Library, Storkyrkobrinken 7A.
Open to everyone, but limited seating. Free admission.  The presentation is in English.
Moderator is the journalist Gunilla Kindstrand.
