Bland hundratals nomineringar från världens alla hörn valde juryn ut fem finalister och slutligen en vinnare av Children’s Climate Prize 2022 - Sparsh, 17 år från Patna, Indien. Sparsh prisas för sin uppfinning The Thermal Floater, som omvandlar värmeenergi från solen till elektrisk energi. En uppfinning som är högst aktuell i ett världsläge där behovet av grön energi är enormt.

Presenting the finalists of Children’s Climate Prize 2022

The jury has appointed this year's five finalists, all of whom make extraordinary contributions to the environment and climate. This year, the finalists come from the USA, India and Pakistan and one of them will be the winner of the Children's Climate Prize 2022. The winner will be presented in November and will receive a diploma, medal and the prize money of SEK 100,000.

Juryn har utsett årets fem finalister som alla gör enastående insatser för miljö och klimat. I år kommer finalisterna från USA, Indien och Pakistan och en av dem kommer att stå som vinnare av Children’s Climate Prize 2022. Vinnaren presenteras i november och kommer att få ta emot diplom, medalj och prissumman på 100.000 SEK som delas ut av stiftelsen Children’s Climate Foundation.

Recently, the Children’s Climate Prize jury met to select the finalists of 2022. The finalists will be presented during September and October, where one ultimately will be announced as this year’s winner. The winner will be presented and awarded by the Children's Climate Foundation in November for their extraordinary efforts for the climate and the environment.

Reshma's project, AI against forest fires, uses AI technology to predict forest fires. Her courageous, innovative and solution-oriented approach to forest fires, a highly topical and growing global issue, made Reshma's project stand out.

"I’m so happy and my hope is that this win will lead to more people hearing about AI against forest fires, and that it will become a universally accessible tool for predicting forest fires. I especially wish for people living in areas more prone to forest fires to be aware and make use of this project, as it could greatly improve preparedness," says fifteen-year-old Reshma Kosaraju, winner of the 2021 Children’s Climate Prize.
