CPAC Systems Steps up Its Fight Against Childhood Cancer

Almost all of us have a passion for a certain cause. For some, it may be a cause to help abolish hunger in the world; others contribute towards making education available to the less fortunate while some feel passionately about animal conservation.

For Johan Nilsson, it was about showing support for his best friend who was diagnosed with leukemia, so he signed up in 2016 to take part in Barncancerfonden's Ride of Hope (RoH) project* that raises funds through various cycling events. It turned out to be such a fulfilling and inspiring experience that he signed up again for Ride of Hope 2017.

In fact, he's so enthusiastic about the cause that he's roped in the company and its employees to support the cause!

CPAC Systems has, for the second year in a row, gone in as a sponsor of Ride of Hope team Göteborg. The proceeds go towards research and education, advice and support on pediatric cancer. For us, however, this sponsorship goes well beyond the monetary.

We believe happy, healthy employees create value for the company which is why we choose to invest in their well-being. Besides the twice-a-week gym / spinning sessions, we are a strong advocate of cycling. In fact, we've even won an award for it (the article is in Swedish)!

This is one of the reasons why we chose to once again support the cycling project, Ride of Hope (RoH). And to contribute towards the cause, our employees are #SpinningforHope in two 90 minute spinning sessions arranged together with RoH instructors. Other planned activities include a 30 km bicycling tour ending with a well-earned BBQ on CPAC's rooftop terrace at Krokslätts Fabriker.

*Ride of Hope (page in Swedish) is one of the projects run by The Swedish Childhood Cancer Foundation (Barncancerfonden) to raise funds towards the awareness of, and fight against, child cancer. Participants in RoH take part in year-long cycling related events, from city cycling to indoor and outdoor spinning classes with a multiple stage bicycle race finish. This year the race starts in Prague, through the Czech Republic, Germany and Poland, finishing in Varberg, Sweden in July 2017.

Proceeds from sponsorship go towards Barncancerfonden’s fight against childhood cancer and to ensure that affected children, youth and their families receive the care and the support they need. Donations are used for research and education, advice and support, and information. More in English.
