Prague Christmas Markets

The largest Christmas markets in the Czech Republic with a charming atmosphere.

The Christmas markets in Prague are among the best known in Europe. Old Town and Havel Square in Old Town, Wenceslas Square and Republic Square, Peace Square and the Holešovice Exhibition Grounds – these are the places where Prague celebrates Advent and Christmas. Let yourself be drawn into tradition, a rich cultural program, glittering atmosphere and typical Christmas gastronomic specialties. Of course, you will find plenty of stalls selling Christmas decorations and ornaments, candles, candy, gingerbread, and small gifts. And if you want to enjoy the best moment, come to Old Town Square on Saturday, November 29th, when the large Christmas tree will be lit for the first time!

Prague New Year's Fireworks

New Year's fireworks in the capital have traditionally been held on New Year's Day at 6 pm.

New Year's in Prague will not be without its popular attraction - the New Year's firework display will take place January 1, 2015 at 6 pm. Prague bridges - most Legií, Čechův most, Mánesův most, Charles Bridge or embankments - Smetanovo nábřeží, Dvořákovo nábřeží are the best for watching, as well as Petřín hill and Letná itself. Outside the center a popular place is the hillside in Rieger’s Orchards or the hill in Vítkov.

Jizerská 50 ski race

Come and enjoy the unique atmosphere of a prestigious ski race!

In the calendar of winter sporting events in the Czech Republic, you will hardly find a more glorious and traditional race than the famous Jizerská 50. After the Vášová Run and Birkebeiner Rene, it is the third oldest long-distance ski race using the classical technique in Europe, and it has been in the ranks of the Worldloppet worldwide league of long-distance races since 1999. Among the famous participants in the race are Björn Daehlie, Thomas Alsgaard, Lukáš Bauer and Stanislav Řezáč. For the 48th running of the 50 km race, starting and finishing in Bedřichov, participants will have to face the challenging and charming landscape of the Jizera Mountains.

Carnevale Praha

Celebrate the Carnival season in the streets of Prague!

The Bohemian Carnevale festival, which is held in Prague every year during the Carnival season at the end of February and beginning of March, is a colorful showcase of wonderful ideas, refined taste and dazzling creativity. It recalls the historical and allegorical spectacle of the festivities, which were held in the Czech lands during the Middle Ages. This event takes place in public places, palaces, museums, galleries and theaters, as well as in restaurants and shops. Would you prefer a dazzling carnival ball, child’s whirl in masks and Baroque opera, or music and dance scenes of the Prague Carnival in the 17th and 18 centuries?
