Debricked Secures 22M SEK to Help Developers Use & Select Open Source

Malmö, Sweden - September, 2021 - Open source security startup Debricked raises 22 million SEK ($2.5 M) in a funding round led by Luminar Ventures, Brightly Ventures and Almi Invest, with participation from several business angel investors.

As open source adoption continues to grow across various industries - from cloud-based services to autonomous vehicles, the need to properly manage your open source, and address associated risks increases rapidly. With the recent investment, Debricked aspires to be the go-to solution for developers around the world.

Automating open source security

Since its foundation in 2018, Debricked has been on a mission to revolutionize the way in which open source is used. The company offers a service that automates the detection of vulnerabilities and delivers solutions for those vulnerabilities in open source components used in customers’ applications. This helps companies stay on top of security while maintaining development efficiency and speed.

Today the Debricked service is used by both local and international clients such as American Gas & Energy giant Ameresco, Swedish fintech unicorn Tink recently acquired by Visa, as well as European medtech unicorn Kry/LIVI and about 60 other organizations in over 10 countries.

The most refined search engine

With their latest innovation, Open Source Select, Debricked aims to make searching and comparing open source packages a breeze. This is done by providing an in-depth analysis of the community health and offering contextualization to help developers make an informed decision.

Aiming for the stars

Besides this investment round, last year Debricked raised a total investment of 18 million SEK ($2 M) bringing the total investments received to about 50 million SEK ($5 M) to date.

With these investments the Debricked team will continue developing their security and compliance offering as well as their newest launch Select.

“We are currently working on a new feature called Vulnerable Functionality, which identifies not only what open source you use but also which specific function is vulnerable and whether or not it’s being used in a way that makes the customer vulnerable. This allows us to be a lot more precise and accurate than ever before seen in our industry” says co-founder and Head of Data Science Emil Wåreus.
