Borlänge, September 24, 2025 – EcoDataCenter has started construction of the new mega campus Kvarnsveden in Borlänge. The project represents a long-term establishment of significant industrial scale, with the first data center at the site scheduled for completion in early 2027.

EcoDataCenter have acquired parts of a former papermill plant in Borlänge, Sweden. The site, spanning over 20 acres, will have at least 240MW power capacity. A milestone in EcoDataCenter's expansion journey, which, together with the previous establishment of data centers in nearby Falun, turns the region into a powerhouse for European AI infrastructure.
EcoDataCenter, a pioneering force in sustainable data centers has successfully raised EUR 170 million in debt financing from a consortium of banks. This substantial financial injection is poised to accelerate EcoDataCenter’s expansion within the Nordic market. The owner of EcoDataCenter, Areim, has successfully closed its Nordic data center fund, Areim DC Fund, with EUR 446 million in committed capital from leading institutional investors. The capital will be used to enable further growth and drive the green transition within the data center industry through EcoDataCenter.
