Press release -

iGrant.io announces a Vinnova-funded pilot for Sweden’s first Health Data Space using decentralised technologies

Together with Hamling, Aigine, Redpill Linpro and RISE, the pilot will demonstrate lawful, scalable and verifiable data sharing in a trusted health data space using decentralised technologies. Throughout the pilot, the underlying technology and governance framework will be tested and refined with the help of stakeholders in the data space, including healthcare professionals and legal experts.

Research shows that the number of people diagnosed with diabetes is increasing at an alarming rate. Dealing with long-term diagnoses, with many sequelae, is a significant burden for individuals, the Swedish health system, and surrounding actors such as Medtech and application suppliers. However, the lack of ability to seamlessly aggregate and share data prevents these stakeholders from generating relevant insights to support their missions. With this project, we want to increase the utilisation of health data for better self-care, health care and secondary use (research and innovation etc.).

iGrant.io co-founder and CEO Lotta Lundin says: “All stakeholders in the health data ecosystem say that the number one thing holding them back from reaching their aspirations is lack of data. Let’s face it; there is no lack of data. What is lacking is access to data. Until now, data has been held up in silos or not shared due to organisational or legal constraints. We now have the infrastructure and tools to overcome the constraints. We just have to overcome the fear and put it to the test, and that is what this pilot is all about”.
