Press release -
iGrant.io-donated data exchange agreement protocol software achieves status as a Digital Public Good (DPG)
iGrant.io, a data intermediation service provider, is proud to announce that the suite of data exchange agreements (DEXA) has achieved the status of a Digital Public Good. The data exchange protocol, developed by iGrant.io and others in the Horizon 2020-funded NGI-ONTOCHAIN project, helps individuals and organisations control the use of their data assets.
The Digital Public Good Alliance aims to promote digital public goods to create a more equitable world. It offers a nine-point baseline for evaluating and recognising open-source software, content, data and standards that adhere to privacy and other applicable laws and best practices, do no harm by design and help attain sustainable development goals. This recognition acknowledges their use of vetted open-source licences, useful documentation and adherence to relevant best practices and data protection laws, such as the GDPR.
iGrant.io co-founder and CEO Lotta Lundin says: “As a MyData Operator, we have always supported the idea of a human-centric Internet where individuals are empowered to control their data. Organisations that support the same and are willing to be transparent about their use of data are the true winners in their digitalisation efforts. As part of many communities, we have supported interoperable standards to create a more inclusive and equitable Internet”.
The DEXA protocol facilitates sustainable data exchange for organisations, ensuring that all transactions are lawful, scalable and verifiable. The protocol brings the requisite trust and governance to establish a ubiquitous data exchange marketplace while empowering individuals to be in control of their data. For more information:
