Construction starts on Liseberg’s indoor water park Oceana
After years of planning, the construction can now start on Liseberg’s year-round, indoor water park. The water park – that will be named Oceana – is the second part of Liseberg’s expansion project, marking the parks centennial in 2023. With unique themes and 14 water attractions, the experience will be unlike anything else on the north European market.
The Applause Award celebrates Ruby Jubilee
The Applause Award is the theme- and amusement parks industry’s oldest and most prestigious award. So far, 19 outstanding parks have received the award. This year it is 40 years since the very first Applause Award was presented. To commemorate the anniversary year of the award, a new anniversary logo is now being introduced.
Liseberg lays foundation for the future Grand Curiosa Hotel
On June 22, 2020 Swedish amusement parks were informed that they will not be allowed to open this summer. This has large consequences for the Swedish amusement park industry. Despite this, Liseberg is looking ahead. South of the amusement park the new Grand Curiosa Hotel is rapidly taking shape. “In these tough times, it feels amazing to see this project come to life”, says Andreas Andersen.
Liseberg presents next generation virtual queuing system
This spring Liseberg opens the new Dark Ride Underland, situated in the children’s area Kaninlandet (the Rabbit Land). For the new ride, visitors will not have to stand in a physical queue and wait. Instead, Liseberg launches a newly developed virtual queuing system.
The ABBA Dinner Show ’Mamma Mia! The Party’ to Liseberg
After a 4 year run in Stockholm and the successful September premiere in London, , Mamma Mia! The Party Dinner Show moves to Liseberg’s show venue Rondo. ABBA member Björn Ulvaeus, together with Andreas Andersen, CEO of Liseberg, today presented how Rondo will be transformed for the Mamma Mia! The Party, that will premiere in August 28 2020. Ticket sales starts on Tuesday October 29 2019.
Construction starts on Liseberg Grand Curiosa Hotel
On September 23, 2019 the final green light was given to Liseberg's new park-integrated themed hotel. The 457 room Liseberg Grand Curiosa Hotel, located by the south entrance of the amusement park, will open in 2022-23.
A preview of Liseberg’s new dark ride on display in Paris
The dark ride Underland is Liseberg’s new big investment for the park’s children’s area and will open in spring 2020. This week, during the IAAPA Expo Europe trade show in Paris, the vehicle is for the first time being displayed for the industry to get a preview of the new rabbit themed dark ride.
Liseberg builds new Dark Ride for 2020
In November, Liseberg announced that Kaninlandet (the Rabbit Land) – Liseberg’s children’s area – would be expanded in 2020. Today, Liseberg proudly presents Underland – the underground world of the rabbits – a major new family Dark Ride, as part of this expansion.
Halloween at Liseberg sets new record
After 16 opening days, Liseberg Sunday closed the gates for the Halloween season 2018. For the first time, over 320,000 guest visited the park – and has established Gothenburg as one of the primary autumn break destinations in Sweden.
This Christmas at Liseberg: Swan Lake on ice
Every year, during Christmas at Liseberg, a spectacular ice show is shown daily. This Christmas, the stunning classical ballet Swan Lake will be showing at the Liseberg ice rink. “It will be a first-class fairytale ballet on ice,” reveals producer Sofia Sjölin. Christmas at Liseberg and the Swan Lake ice ballet open on 16 November.
The circus is coming to Halloween at Liseberg
At Liseberg a strange circus establishment has moved in. For the odd characters at Cirkus Bisarr, entertainment is more than just fun and laughter. It's bloody serious. Something is waiting for you among tattered circus tents and blinking lights, something creepy that will send chills down your spine. Once you have entered you may not come out again.
Grand opening of Valkyria
Today was the grand opening of Liseberg’s new record-breaking roller coaster Valkyria. Liseberg’s biggest investment ever will be both the highest and longest dive coaster in Europe – and have the highest drop in Scandinavia of 50 meters. A large number of thrilled guests gathered at 11 AM on August 10, 2018 to watch the ribbon being cut before enjoying their first ride.
