Liseberg opens tomorrow – here’s what’s new!

At 12 noon on 22 April, we’re opening the gates to Scandianvia’s biggest theme park, formally declaring the arrival of summer. This year’s summer at Liseberg, the 95th in the park’s history, features brand-new – and at the same time ancient – features: Good news, big news and thousands of tiny, disgusting news items.

Mythical area with several new attractions
In Summer 2017, we launch the first chapter of the new theme area on Ancient Norse myths and legends. Next to Balder, the evil giant Loke moves in and the epic battle begins. In 2018, the concept of the area will be expanded with the completion of the Valkyria rollercoaster. Visitors to Liseberg this year can get a little taste of what Valkyria will be like in virtual reality.

If you prefer not to be thrown 42 metres up in the air in Loke, you can practise your crossbow aim in the nearby game Ragnarök, or dig into a big juicy burger fit for a Viking, at the new Max restaurant.

Klubbland – in the mind of Håkan Hellström
Klubbland is an interactive, visual and very loving tribute to one of Sweden’s greatest artists. It will be moving in next to the big Stora Scenen stage in 2017. Embark on a musical journey through Håkan Hellström’s life – from his childhood dreams of football stardom and the teen magazine OKEJ, to club gigs and rejection letters from record companies, to sold-out arenas and the unconditional love of his fans. Hellström is the main theme, but Klubbland is also a depiction of the Gothenburg scene and the popular culture of the past decades.

Spider Invasion at the Gasten Ghost Hotel
A skin-crawling experience at the creepy hotel. Pick your way through swarms of fast-footed creepy crawlies and heavy egg sacs dangling from the ceiling, ready to spill their hair-raising contents. You’d be well advised to keep looking over your shoulder – and up and all around – at the Gasten Ghost Hotel this summer.

Food from every corner of the world
Quality, sustainability and healthful alternatives are the reasons that Liseberg has chosen to partner with the Swedish hamburger chain Max this year. Three Max restaurants will open in the park this summer. Mattorget is a new food court where visitors can choose from Thai wok, Tex-Mex and kebabs in a colourful Oriental environment. For a change of scenery, you can also visit Tyrolen, which will have a new interior based on an alpine ski chalet. For dessert, there’s ice cream from Liseberg’s new partner, the Gothenburg-based Triumfglass, and colourful popcorn varieties from the new Popperiet.

More music and golden oldies
A long-term initiative to become Gothenburg’s best live scene is kicking off in 2017. The Stora Scenen stage has been fitted with better equipment, and more acts than ever have been booked so far. From the US, there’s Alice Cooper, Kris Kristofferson, Bad Religion, Emmylou Harris and House of Pain. From this side of the pond, Sweden counters with First Aid Kit, Opeth, Henrik Berggren, Ghost and The Hellacopters. And many more!

Lotta Engberg will be back on Stora Scenen with sing-alongs and guest performers, and as always, the other stages will be filled with dance, music and rabbit theater. This year’s event weekends are Liseberg’s Garden Days, the Liseberg Food Festival, Skate at Liseberg and Olympic Days.

Liseberg’s summer season is 22 April–1 October. All information is available on liseberg.com.
