    Liseberg premieres POV for new roller coaster Luna

    This year Liseberg introduced a new themed area, Luna Park, as a part of the park’s centennial celebration. Two new family rides, Turbo & Tempus, opened in connection with the park's premiere in April. Next year, when Liseberg celebrates its 100-year anniversary, Luna Park will be completed with the third and biggest attraction in the area, the Vekoma Family Boomerang Luna. Watch the new POV here.

    Liseberg reports strong financial results despite major restrictions

    Despite a delayed opening and extensive capacity constraints, Liseberg reports an improvement in earnings of almost one billion SEK for 2021 compared to 2020. "We are beginning to see the contours of a Liseberg, which has made its way through the crisis," says Andreas Andersen, CEO of Liseberg.

    Liseberg kicks off centennial celebration with a new themed area; Luna Park

    In 2023 Liseberg celebrates its 100-year anniversary. This centennial will be marked by the opening of the Liseberg Grand Curiosa Hotel in 2023 and Oceana Water World in 2024. Already next year, the celebration begins with a completely new themed area named Luna Park, as well as two new family rides, Turbo & Tempus. A year later, the Luna family boomerang roller coaster, will be added to the area.

    The Applause Award is the theme- and amusement parks industry’s oldest and most prestigious award. The award has been presented biannually since 1980, but due to the current circumstances around COVID-19, the 2020 award will be postponed until 2022.

    After years of planning, the construction can now start on Liseberg’s year-round, indoor water park. The water park – that will be named Oceana – is the second part of Liseberg’s expansion project, marking the parks centennial in 2023. South of the amusement park the new Grand Curiosa Hotel is rapidly taking shape. “In these tough times, it feels amazing to see this project come to life”, says Andreas Andersen.

    This spring Liseberg opens the new Dark Ride Underland, situated in the children’s area Kaninlandet (the Rabbit Land). For the new ride, visitors will not have to stand in a physical queue and wait. Instead, Liseberg launches a newly developed virtual queuing system.

    After a 4 year run in Stockholm and the successful September premiere in London, , Mamma Mia! The Party Dinner Show moves to Liseberg’s show venue Rondo. ABBA member Björn Ulvaeus, together with Andreas Andersen, CEO of Liseberg, today presented how Rondo will be transformed for the Mamma Mia! The Party, that will premiere in August 28 2020. Ticket sales starts on Tuesday October 29 2019.

    On September 23, 2019 the final green light was given to Liseberg's new park-integrated themed hotel. The 457 room Liseberg Grand Curiosa Hotel, located by the south entrance of the amusement park, will open in 2022-23.

    ​Today was the grand opening of Liseberg’s new record-breaking roller coaster Valkyria. Liseberg’s biggest investment ever will be both the highest and longest dive coaster in Europe – and have the highest drop in Scandinavia of 50 meters. A large number of thrilled guests gathered at 11 AM on August 10, 2018 to watch the ribbon being cut before enjoying their first ride.

    Liseberg chooses construction company for new water park and hotel

    Liseberg has chosen NCC, one of the leading construction and property development companies in the Nordic region, as partner for the Liseberg Jubilee project. The project includes a water park, a themed destination hotel and parking facilities. Liseberg will, through a fully owned development company, build the project, at an estimated investment of approximately SEK 2 billion.
