MEDS accelerates expansion with quadrupled warehouse and office space
With multiplied sales, substantially expanded product range and more than double the staff in a matter of months, MEDS now sets the stage for rapid further expansion. This by investing close to SEK 50 million in a new head office and logistics center over a long term contract.
The new premises are four times as large as the current and will house HQ offices, pharmacists, customer service and warehouse together, just a 10 minute drive from Stockholm city. The newly refurbished space will be accessed in the winter of 2020, when MEDS also plans to open Sweden's first drive-in pharmacy as a complement to the fast home deliveries.
“We doubled the warehouse space in 2019, but it is already very crowded for both goods and staff. The pharmacy market has exploded online and to support our growth a major expansion is necessary. The new premises will be a big boost for both our team and our customers by improved capacity for logistics and further extended product range. We will expand the public's perception of what a pharmacy is, and finally realize the dream of a drive-in!” says Björn Thorngren, CEO and co-founder of MEDS
The premises include a single level warehouse, including cold storage and a unique possibility for drive-in. At the same time, MEDS is moving its head office to newly renovated office space in the same building with a miles-wide views of the city.
“The new premises enable world-class logistics and are unique in their proximity to Stockholm city. This means that we can continue to offer customers fast and environmentally sustainable deliveries while ensuring much higher capacity.” Says Marcus Ramstrand, logistics manager at MEDS.
