Northlight representerar Sverige på öppningen av Youbloom Connect, The Global Music Village. Den 1 Juni öppnas den nya tjänsten Youbloom Connect en sajt där artister kan finna varandra och göra turneér ihop. Första konserten hålls den 1 juni i Dublin där Northlight från Karlstad representerar sverige. De andra banden är Dreaming of Jupiter (Irland), Headtrip Acoustic (Irland), Carito Plaza (Chile).

Det är mycket på gång kring Northlight. Den helt nya låten ‘A Celebration of Humanity’ släpps på alla plattformar världen över den 17:e maj tillsammans med sitt fotomosaik-omslag bestående av 532 individuella bilder inskickade av bandets följare.

”Vi ville skapa en känsla av samhörighet och gemenskap, inte bara musikaliskt eller i låttexten, utan i projektet som helhet. Så vi bad våra följare om hjälp med att skapa omslaget till den här låten och resultatet blev bortom fantastiskt”, berättar bandets sångare Victor Bergh.

Bandets experimentella och världsliga influenser skiner igenom tydligt i ‘A Celebration of Humanity’ där bland annat en japansk koto, en persisk santoor och en keltisk hammered dulcimer är några av instrumenten som hörs i låten. 

”Vi kände ett behov av att utmana oss själva, så vi kastade bort allt vi visste om låtskrivande, förträngde allt vi hade lärt oss om hur en låt skulle skrivas och började om från noll med ingenting annat än ett blankt papper”, berättar bandet själva om den kreativa processen. 

Trots de minst sagt okonventionella influenserna dock lyckas man på ett galant sätt balansera mellan ett originellt men samtidigt, i allra högsta grad, kommersiellt, uppfriskande och radiovänligt resultat vars kärna tydligt placerar sig i popgenren.

NORTHLIGHT har sina rötter i Värmlands djupa skogar där bandet bildades i Karlstad 2012. Sångaren, Victor Bergh, kommer ursprungligen från den lilla bruksorten Edsvalla med knappa tusen invånare, och det var under gymnasietiden som han träffade tidigare klasskamraten och bandets basist, Per Eresund. Tillsammans, efter en mattelektion under det tredje och sista året, beslutade de sig för att starta ett band, till samtliga i klassens stora förvåning. Självlärda och utan någon tidigare erfarenhet av att spela instrument lärde de sig snabbt konsten att skriva musik. Kort därefter anslöt sig även ledgitarristen Fredrik Andersson och trummisen Johan Köhler till bandet och kvartetten var nu komplett.

The idea: Unforgettable, affordable, live music experiences in cities around the world, increasing the connectedness of fans, artists, hosts, and promoters. 

The experience: A show where fans get to request artists and listen to curated music in an intimate setting, surrounded by friends and others who love live music. So What's Happening….?

The launch of youbloomConnect, its first official “show” will take place on June 1st, 2019 at 2pm in Dublin at IMRO (Irish Music Rights Organisation), Copyright House, Pembroke Row, Baggot Street Lower, Dublin D02 HW59. The youbloomConnect launch show is a central part of youbloomDublin19 in its seventh year. Four bands, two local to Dublin and two international acts, will play a stripped back set. The bands are Dreaming of Jupiter (Ireland), Headtrip Acoustic (Ireland), Carito Plaza (Chile) and Northlight (Sweden). Tickets: Free entry but requires ticketing and numbers are very limited. 

youbloomConnect shows are planned to commence in Los Angeles, San Diego, Santiago & London in the second half of 2019. 

Conference: Prior to the Connect launch show, on the same day and also at IMRO, youbloomDublin19 will host a conference including two panels and one masterclass from 10am to 1pm. The panels are as follows: “PUBLISHING LIFE HACKS – The insider’s guide to the tricks of the trade” led by Steve Lindsey of Elevate Music and "OLD SCHOOL / NEW SCHOOL / SCHOOL’S OUT - Has getting your music out there gotten any different in the new times of social media” led by Martin Bridgeman of KCLR96FM and a masterclass “youbloomConnect - Growing your live music presence and revenues” led by Phil Harrington, CEO of youbloom. Tickets: €20 limited to 75. youbloomDublin19 is generously supported by IMRO (Irish Music Rights Organisation).

youbloomDublin 2014 where Alan McGee, the legendary manager of Oasis, Primal Scream and The Libertines was the keynote speaker at youbloom Dublin 2014 where 110 bands from 20 countries played to venues in Dublin’s Dame District. 

youbloomLA 2014 took place in November 2014. Los Angeles hosted over 60 bands from all over the world for a rockin’ 3 days/nights of live music and networking. The conference hosted UK A&R legend, Nigel Grainge as keynote speaker. Other speakers included Dede Flemming, Jan Fairchild, Mike Bone, Vince Bannon and Tom Sturges. 

youbloomDublin 2013 took place in June 2013. This consisted of a two-day industry led music conference and 90 bands from 11 countries playing over three nights. The conference included music industry icons Dave Robinson of Stiff Records who gave the keynote address, Tommy Silverman of the New Music Seminar and producer Rupert Hine. 

youbloom Music Awards 2010 - 2012: The youbloom Music Awards began in 2010 primarily as an online event with fan voting and high profile judges led by Bob Geldof, Nigel Grainge (Thin Lizzy, Boomtown Rats, Sinead O'Connor, 10 CC, Waterboys) and Rupert Hine (Tina Turner, Rush, Stevie Nicks). youbloom formed an A&R team that ran alongside the commencement of the roll out of the youbloom live program in the UK, Ireland and Argentina.
