Open Communications’ founder David Gray to sit on jury of Sweden’s foremost advertising awards – 100-Wattaren
David Gray, founder and creative director of Open Communications, a Stockholm-based global marketing agency, has been chosen to sit on the international jury of Sweden’s prestigious 100-Wattaren Awards.
First held in 1990, the 100-Wattaren is an annual competition that highlights excellence and effectiveness in advertising. There are six categories including awards for B2C, B2B, long-term and international projects, as well as an award for work with non-profit organizations or political parties.
David has been asked, along with nine other communication experts, to review nominations in the “International” category. This award celebrates advertising campaigns devised and produced in Sweden and executed internationally.
“It’s a honor to be part of 100-Watteran and to celebrate the great work being done by agencies out of Sweden internationally – something that’s not always so well known in the local market,” says David.
Joining David on the jury for the “International” category are Madeleine Gössner, Head of Marketing Communication at Telenor Sweden; Johan Rosenblom, Head of Marketing at Media Markt; Frederick Mungai, PR & Marketing at Björn Borg Sweden; Thomas Brenemark, VP & Strategic Director, Storakers McCann Stockholm; Lars Holthe, Senior Art Director, Åkestam Holst; Brit Stakston, Media Strategist at JMW; Nike Carlstoft, Deputy ManagingDirector at MEC and Ulrika Bernhoff, CEO United Minds. Beatrice Siöström, Communication Manager at IKEA Sweden, will chair the “International” jury.
The competition is organized by The Association of Swedish Advertisers, which promotes advertisers' interests in Sweden; and The Swedish Association of Communication Agencies, a professional association of marketing communications professionals.
100-Wattare, a reference to bright ideas, is Swedish for a 100-Watt light bulb.
David is an ex-pat American who founded Open Communications in 2000 to support consumer brands like H&M, Ericsson, Bentley, ABSOLUT, Electrolux, Virgin and IKEA, as well as leading B2B brands such as Fresenius-Kabi, Mengus, Sandvik, Cavotec, Micronic, Transmode, Skanska and Scania to tell their stories internationally.
