Analog Devices’ processor runs CES nominated PopCatcher technology

When using the Analog Devices’ Blackfin processor in its product together with the PopCatcher solution, the product has been nominated as a 2008 CES innovation honoree. Analog Devices have again proved capable of bringing a new technology to the consumer electronics market. PopCatcher is a Swedish based company that can separate talk and commercials from music during a radio broad cast. The songs are then saved as separate mp3 tracks and can be copied to an mp3 player or mobile. PopCatcher uses its mp3 technology enabled by Analog Devices’ Blackfin processor in its new product, The Ripper, which has been nominated to the 2008 CES innovation honoree awards. “The advanced but low cost processor made it possible for PopCatcher’s technology to fit into audio products for the mass market”, says Jakob Berg, CEO PopCatcher, after the CES innovations Design and Engineering Award was presented to him. About The Ripper The first PopCatcher product is a radio called The Ripper, which can separate talk and commercials from music during a radio broadcast. The product uses an Analog Devices Blackfin processor to create a finished product out of the new technology. Already, the product has created a stir in Swedish media, where it has just been released in retail stores. About PopCatcher AB PopCatcher is a Swedish audio research company founded in 2000 by Rickard and Jakob Berg. PopCatcher has developed a solution for RADIO that enables a small, self-learning system to separate MUSIC from DJs and commercials in all languages and all types of music.
