Music Products of the Future Now Introduced at CES 2008 in Las Vegas
Endless supply of music in your mp3 player or mobile from the internet, free, legal and without a computer, could be a reality. A Swedish journalist asks why this hasn’t already been done (www.realtid.se, Nov 16th, 2007).
The Swedish company PopCatcher can separate talk and commercials from music during a radio broadcast. The songs are then saved as separate mp3 files and can be copied to an mp3 player or a mobile. A first product with this technology was released in November.
Analog Devices has a processor with an internet radio solution, which means that a radio can pick up different stations that are broadcasted over the internet, without any need for a computer.
Together these two can bring the future to the present. A product always filled with new music saved from any internet radio station. PopCatcher already uses the Blackfin processor from Analog Devices in its hardware module and integrating it with an Analog Devices solution with internet radio makes a completely new product for the consumer market.
Analog Devices and PopCatcher will present coming products at the CES 2008 Consumer Electronic Show in Las Vegas in January 2008. Products will be presented in the Analog Devices’ suite 577 in the Las Vegas Hilton (by invitation only, ask info@popcatcher.com).
