RaceID Launches Android App Enhancing the Experience for Race Participants

After the iOS launch of the new RaceID Participant App last year, RaceID complements the app collection for race enthusiasts with an Android version of the same application. The Android App will enable participants with Android devices to take part in the race community and enjoy an improved digital race experience.

Although iOS has been the main operating system in Sweden where RaceID was founded and started its growth, the market looks different in the rest of Europe and the world. Android is the leading mobile operating system in the world as of January 2022 with its 70-percent share (iOS accounted for around 25%).

“We knew early on as we started to expand in Europe that an Android App was essential. Now that RaceID operates in over 40 countries, it is about time we are equipped to serve the majority of people, no matter what type of smartphone they prefer to use,” says CEO and Co-Founder Erik Sjöbeck.

Erik Sjöbeck is looking forward to the possibilities that Android opens and helping participants all over the world to get a better race experience before, during and after race day. The Android App is so far only in its first version, but already boasts features such as smooth race registrations, profile creation, following and followers, calendar search, inspirational content and more. In future versions, RaceID will keep on developing the iOS app and the Android app in tandem by adding more features driven by the demands of participants and new technology rapidly emerging in the outdoor industry.
