Partnering to explore BECCS potential: ReCarber and Skellefteå Kraft

We’re pleased to announce that ReCarber is taking important steps with Skellefteå Kraft to explore and advance Bioenergy with Carbon Capture and Storage solutions at the district heating facility Hedensbyn, in the Northern parts of Sweden. Together, we’re assessing Carbon Capture and permanent storage as a powerful tool for carbon removal, with a focus on maximizing environmental impact and sustainability.

The Skellefteå Carbon Capture project is designed to potentially capture over 140 000 tons of CO₂ annually, leveraging local, certified forest residues and permanent geological storage. This partnership marks a promising step toward creating verified carbon removal solutions that contribute to global net-zero ambitions.

We’re excited to share our progress as we continue to advance the potential of Carbon Capture in the Nordics for a more sustainable future.
