Korean delegation impressed by Sweden Game Arena

In November 2014 a Swedish delegation with representatives from the GSP-companies Coffee Stain Studios and Guru Games visited Korea, a trip that included meetings and an exhibition at G-star. The trip has resulted in a visit from a Korean delegation, they wanted a glimpse of what lies behind the success of start-ups and game development in Skövde.

The Korean delegation consisted of representatives from the Korean Embassy, Business Sweden, KOTRA Stockholm, Jeonbuk Digital Industry Agency and representatives from eight game companies in Korea. The visit contained, among other things, a lecture by Marcus Toftedahl who works at the University of Skövde. Marcus talked about the education programs and some projects. For example Microsoft Game Camp Sweden, a collaboration between Microsoft and Sweden Game Arena, operated by the University of Skövde, Gothia Science Park and the Municipality of Skövde. The idea behind the cooperation is that students will work with experienced mentors from different Swedish game studios to develop games for Microsoft.

During the visit the Korean delegation met four game companies - Pieces Interactive, Guru Games, Sector 3 and Ludosity, they presented themselves, their games and ongoing projects.

- I am satisfied with the outcome of this visit. We have shown the Korean delegation that there are many interesting companies here and lots of expertise. They were impressed by our work and at the end of the day there were some cooperation proposals, that makes me very satisfied. Now we have to wait and see what the outcome will be, says Per-Arne Lundberg, operations manager for the GSP Incubator.
