Stockholm International Film Festival reveals the jury for Nikon Short Film Award

The award was founded last year to encourage filmmakers all over Europe to use their creativity and imagination to create the best possible short film with a maximum of 60 seconds.

The competition was a success with over 200 submitted contributions. Now we have the honour to present the new jury for the 2023 Nikon Short Film Award, and as last year it is led by Swedish Hollywood director Daniel Espinosa (Easy Money, Safe House, Life), who together with Rising Star-winning actress Sara Shirpey and actress and director Bahar Pars, will form the official jury.

"It is very exciting and honourable to lead the jury for Nikon Short Film Award. We look forward to watching all the films and seeing how the young filmmakers around Europe will contribute to this challenge. Maybe we'll have the next star director among the contestants", says Daniel Espinosa, President of the Jury Nikon Short Film Awards.

The winning short film will be shown at Stockholm International Film Festival and the winner will also receive a Nikon camera and lens of their choice to encourage the creation of the next short film. The winner will also receive a hand made glass sculpture by artist Markus Åkesson via Kosta Boda. In addition to the Nikon camera and lens, the winner will also receive professional guidance from an established Swedish filmmaker. Last year's filmmaker was award-winning director Tarik Saleh.

Nikon has a long history of encouraging young creators all over the world and together with Stockholm International Film Festival, they are now making one of their biggest efforts ever to reach out to filmmakers and creators all around Europe to take on this challenge.

“We are delighted, once again, to be the Official Camera Partner for the Stockholm International Film Festival and to be presenting the Nikon Short Film Awards in 2023. This partnership and award is an expression of our investment in the moving image and our admiration for up and coming filmmakers. We are proud to support this community, not just with powerful video products but also the recognition this award gives their talent”
says Julian Harvie, Marketing Director, Nikon Northern Europe.

This year's theme for the Nikon Short Film Award is "Ready. Action!"
