Join us for a discussion on the purpose of disability studies, its political commitments, and the importance of academic freedom. The speakers, Robert Cimera, Simu Vehmas and Jamie Bolling, will present perspectives on the purpose of disability studies and discuss the possibilities currently available for research that would serve the interests of people with disabilities as well as those of society and academia.

Robert Cimera will share his experiences regarding the development of the research landscape in the USA in recent years. Simo Vehmas will give a picture of challenges for the Swedish research environment for disability studies. Moderated by Jamie Bolling, they will discuss future challenges for disability studies in both the USA and Sweden. The webinar is a collaboration between the Includia Foundation, Independent Living Institute and Stockholm University.
