Accoya® has been featured in many famous architecture in the world today such as The Moses Bridge, The Sneek Bridge in the Netherlands and in the picture, the Cycle Track at Tibilisi Sports Complex in the country of Georgia.

The cycle track is one of the renowned projects for Accoya® due to its challenging demand for the architecture. The material must be something of the highest possible durability and hardness which is able to withstand the constant traffic and load of bike racers on track. The wood need to be so fine that the tremendous impact of the bikes will not cause the tracks to waver.

On the other hand, because the entire cycle track is left totally in the open; exposure to all weather and the 4 seasons of Georgia is another important criteria to be considered. The material chosen must be able to withstand the changing temperature and humidity of the surrounding. Accoya® wood has Class 1 Durability which makes it highly suitable for this project. Unlike plastic which will be brittle and likely to break due to heavy cold weather, Accoya® is able to stay the same due to its softwood charecteristics. Common wood species used commonly for the outdoors such as Chengal, Balau and Teak, are categorized under Class 2 Durability. Hence, it gives Accoya® the edge over traditional outdoor wood materials.
