Which Colours Best Reflect the Mood of Your Room?

"The home is the centre of your soul; it's a total reflection of your inner life.” - Alexandra Stoddard.

At the same time, your home has the ability to influence you. Imagine being in a room that’s completely curtained and dirty; you’ll start to feel depressed after a while. Now imagine walking into a bright cheery room and how your mood would be uplifted.

Look around your home; what does it say about you? What do you want it to say about you? How do you want your home to make you feel?

Colours play an extremely important role in the mood of your room. So it is important to get them right - choose colour themes that reflect you, what you want to convey, and create a unique appearance.

This September, we’re exploring different room colour moods. Whether you’re a Spring, Summer, Autumn, or Winter type of person, there are interiors and floorings that can reflect your personality and/or the ‘season’ you want your room to have.

We’ll kick-start this series with a look at Spring and all that is light, soft and vivid. Remember to look out for this tomorrow!

You can go either way with the colour tones: something more muted and earthly can give you a sense of comfort and security and help you feel more connected to nature, while bright vibrant colours celebrate the vibrancy of new beginnings.

  • Are you and your home SUMMER types?

Summer provides an abundance of interior inspiration - from calming beaches to vibrant gardens and so on. If you’re a summer-type, colours such as yellow, orange and beige are great shades to consider. Bright summer colours can deliver as much or as little energetic pop as you desire, depending on the shade you choose. Go bright to reflect that optimistic, fun-loving personality of yours.

  • Are you and your home AUTUMN types?

Autumns are people who gravitate toward the rich colours that emerge in the fall — reds, golds, auburns, and rusts – and like the idea of cosying up on the sofa with a good book or movie, and hot beverage. The fact that we reside in hot and humid Singapore shouldn’t deter you from bringing Autumn into your homes. Here are some ideas you can consider:
