Environment and sustainability a major focus this year: Experts

Companies in Singapore and the region are facing pressure to adopt sustainable practices or risk losing out in the eyes of consumers, especially after unprecedented levels of haze from forest fires in Indonesia choked the region. Kimberly-Clark in particular has taken the lead in raising consumer awareness of Kleenex's FSC™ certification as assurance of its sustainable supply chain.

Kimberly-Clark has a long history of innovation and environmental leadership and in 2009 became one of the first major companies to commit to achieving FSC™ certification for its tissue products. FSC™ certification, considered the gold standard of forest management, helps consumers ensure that the product they are buying comes from sustainable sources.

Kimberly-Clark’s efforts to promote responsible forestry in Asia include the Love Your Forests program in partnership with WWF Australia, Keep Korea Green reforestation campaign which has planted over 50 million trees, and a partnership with FSC in Taiwan to raise consumer & customer awareness. In Singapore, Kleenex is partnering WWF’s We Breathe What We Buy campaign to educate consumers on their role in protecting our forests, through the sustainable choices they make every day.
