Kimberly-Clark China’s Touch of White Angels Campaign Brings Healthcare Professionals Essentials for a Better Life

Kimberly-Clark China’s Touch of White Angels programme partnered with China Women’s Development Foundation (CWDF) to support the 2015 Shanghai Medical Staff Training Summit. The event was held at the International Peace Maternity & Child Health Hospital of the China Welfare Institute (IPMCH) on 4 November 2015.

Professor Li Feng, Master Supervisor at the School of Public Health of Fudan University, was invited to speak on the promotion and management of medical workers’ health.

Launched in 2013, the Touch of White Angel campaign aims to provide tangible support and care for healthcare professionals in China’s urban and rural areas. The programme advocates and facilitates better understanding of and respect for their work and provides training to enhance their professional skills. In the past two years, the Touch of White Angel Campaign has successfully:

• Organized one-to-one exchange programs that provided opportunities for medical workers in less developed areas to be trained in more advanced hospitals;

• Sponsored 200 healthcare professionals each year for professional certification;

• Invited well-known experts to provide skill-based training and perspectives on workload and stress management;

• Held annual Symposiums as a platform for exchange and communication;

• Honored 20 doctors and nurses who were named “Outstanding Medical Workers for Women and Children’s Health” in 2014.

Officiating at the event, Peng Yu, former Deputy Minister of Ministry of Health P.R. China, together with other government officials gave high recognition to the campaign’s influence and contributions.

Li Caiyun, Assistant to the Secretary General of CWDF,pointed out: “Since the CWDF White Angel Foundation was established, the female medical workers have participated in many activities which have effectively ignited their passion to provide better services”. Expressing her appreciation for Kimberly-Clark, Ms Li also said: “Kimberly-Clark was among the first to initiate care activities for medical staff, demonstrating the company’s consistent adherence to the value of caring for the community.”

Kimberly-Clark’s continued partnership with CWDF will bring Chinese healthcare professionals the essentials for a better life, in the areas of professional skill development, clinical facility improvement and life quality management.  

Professor Li Feng’s lecture was well received by the medical workers, who expressed their desire to attend more training courses.

Guided by teachers trained by health instructors, expecting parents learnt how to put diapers on their new-born baby in the Health Education Classroom. 

Shweta Shukla, Director of Kimberly-Clark APAC Communications & Government Affairs, extended her appreciation to the female medical workers and presented a congratulatory hamper of Huggies and other Kimberly-Clark products to new parents.
