​Sigma initiates a close and strategic partnership with Ericsson AB around Internet of Things

The new Ericsson Application Platform for IoT is a multi-industry platform that scales within and across data centers, providing the ability to support anything from small to hyper sized sensor networks. It performs analytics on physical and virtual sensor data streams.

Ericsson partners with Sigma to offer the Ericsson IoT application platform, a new cloud-native next-generation IoT application platform as part of Ericsson IOT Accelerator. The multi-industry platform scales within and across data centers, providing the ability to support anything from small to hyper sized sensor networks. The new Ericsson Application Platform for IoT performs data management on physical and virtual sensor data streams.

The application platform is designed to support multiple industries and verticals to speed up implementations of business applications. The offering is getting a lot of traction in the marketplace in a wide area of use cases/industry verticals. The Ericsson Application Platform for IoT provides:

Rapid deployment to enable solutions ranging from start-ups to global Enterprises

Support Start small and grow to quickly determine TCO and ROI through a PAYG model

An elastic and scalable solution to meet today’s demands of cloud solutions

Intuitive processes for registering devices/gateways, provision data streams, apply context to data, implement rules and algorithms

Easy to integrate with Business applications and existing BI investments at the customer

Sigma will provide development of the platform, owned by Ericsson, and will also be a sales partner and customer implementation partner.

The platform is today built on Microsoft Azure cloud platform, but the plans are to also implement it on Ericsson cloud platform.

Ericsson and Sigma will jointly enhance the platform for a global IoT market.
