Winner of the 2025 Experts of Tomorrow Innovation Race Announced!
The winner of Sweden’s largest innovation competition, the Experts of Tomorrow Innovation Race, has finally been announced. This year’s first place and gold medal goes to Class 6A at Internationella Engelska Skolan in Lund. According to the jury’s statement, their entry demonstrates a unique holistic approach in which technology, social benefit and sustainability are thoughtfully and relevantly integrated.
This year’s edition of the competition engaged more than 200 middle-school classes from all across Sweden. The theme for the year was “here and there and back again”, and the challenge was to develop an innovation focused on transportation. Once again, all ten finalist entries showcased genuine creativity and clever problem-solving. As always, the jury faced a difficult task in selecting a winner from such strong contributions.
New for this year was the introduction of bronze and silver awards. The competition’s first bronze medal went to Class 4 at Länghemsskolan in Länghem for their entry “Matbilen” (“The Food Truck”). The silver medal was well earned by Class 6 at Möllevångsskolan in Malmö for their entry “Rörpost för människor” (“Pneumatic Tube System for People”).
The winners of this year’s Experts of Tomorrow Innovation Race are Class 6A at Internationella Engelska Skolan in Lund. Their entry, “Move 2 Freedom”, is an innovation that converts movement into electricity through generators placed in shoe soles. The energy is stored in a portable battery, a sustainable solution in which every step contributes to clean energy. According to the jury, the winning entry shows how small, clever ideas can have a major impact. It also presents a clear overall concept where technology, social benefit and sustainability are brought together in a way that feels both thoughtful and relevant. The idea is easy to grasp while also pointing clearly towards future possibilities. It is an inspiring contribution with strong development potential, and the jury sees great opportunities for building further upon it
“This year, as in last year, we received wonderful entries from all over Sweden. The participants demonstrate an impressive understanding of technology and innovation, which makes us very hopeful for the future. We are therefore continuing this successful initiative for the third year in a row,” says Johan Glennmo, Chairman of the Board of Sigma Group.
A Commitment to Nurturing Future Tech Talent
The Experts of Tomorrow Innovation Race is part of Sigma’s initiative to spark interest in technology among young people. With a concerning decline in technological engagement at the secondary school level, the goal is to inspire middle school students to explore technology and innovation from an early age. By allowing students to work creatively on real-world challenges, Sigma hopes to pave the way for the engineers and technical experts of the future.
