Stockholm Furniture Fair 2027 — Patricia Urquiola named Guest Creative
This year marks 75 years since the first edition of Stockholm Furniture Fair took place in 1951, marking a milestone for the world’s leading platform for Scandinavian design. To honour the occasion, Patricia Urquiola joins as Guest Creative, designing the visual identity for the 2027 edition.
The world-renowned designer holds a special place in the fair’s history as the very first Guest of Honour in 2004. Her return now bridges the fair’s rich heritage with its forward-looking direction.
“Being back at Stockholm Furniture Fair as Guest Creative is very special for me. I was the first Guest of Honour back in 2004, and this return feels like meeting an old friend again,” says Patricia Urquiola.
A fair in motion
Urquiola’s concept for the 2027 edition takes the form of a liquid landscape — a graphic world in which past and future merge.
“For this project I wanted to create a visual identity that feels fluid and transformative, like a glitch between past and future, a kind of liquid state where everything can overlap and change,” says Patricia Urquiola.
Through its fluid forms, the identity embodies a sense of transformation — a fair in motion, moving forward while honouring its heritage.
Patricia Urquiola is internationally recognised not only for her innovative design practice, but also for her strong dialogue with contemporary European design culture, including the Scandinavian design scene. Her work is characterised by material experimentation and a human-centred approach, which aligns closely with the values often associated with Scandinavian design — simplicity, functionality, and material honesty. Through collaborations and her long-standing presence in the Nordic design context, she bridges innovation and the progressive spirit of Scandinavian design.
