Stockholm Furniture Fair showcases experimental design in the exhibition Älvsjö gård
Älvsjö gård showcases experimental and limited-edition pieces by designers and makers moving between small-scale work and industrial design. The 2025 edition features participators such as David Taylor, Jonas Lutz, Jenny Nordberg and Simon Skinner.
Initiated by Stockholm Furniture Fair in 2023, the platform Älvsjö gård was created to offer a broader perspective on design and connect industry with artistry. Named after the 15th-century manor next to the fairgrounds, where the first edition premiered 2023, the platform now presents a curated selection of designers, makers and independent artists within the fair.
This year’s participants include David Taylor, whose work in aluminium blurs the line between artistry and functionality, and Jenny Nordberg, debuting a furniture series made from discarded office equipment in collaboration with the factory Soeco. The selection of exhibitors is made by The New Era Magazine.
“Älvsjö gård mirrors how many designers work today, moving fluidly between craft, small scale work and industry. It offers visitors a broader scope for their projects,” says Hanna Nova Beatrice from The New Era Magazine.
Other exhibitors this year includes artist and designer Simon Skinner, as well as Simon Mattison, whose series Animism is a collection of vibrant functional sculptures created using large-scale 3D-printing.
In 2025, the acclaimed designer and artist Faye Toogood is the Guest of Honor at Stockholm Furniture Fair. Her entrance hall installation Manufracture is dedicated to the hands behind the craft and their importance in today’s design processes, further strengthening the mission of Älvsjö gård.
Älvsjö gård is curated by The New Era Magazine and showcases 14 designers, makers and artists. The exhibition takes place in Hall A at Stockholm Furniture Fair, February 4-8 2025.
