Stockholmsmässan looks ahead – strengthening its role as the Nordic region’s leading exhibition and congress venue

With a new CEO and strategic direction, Stockholmsmässan is setting its sights on reinforcing its position as the Nordic region’s foremost venue for congresses and exhibitions – and in doing so, strengthening Stockholm’s role as an important international meeting hub for business and the wider region.

In October, Mats Viker took over as CEO with the mandate to develop Stockholmsmässan in line with key trends shaping the meetings industry – such as digitalisation, sustainability, and the growing demand for niche and highly personalised experiences. The new strategy also aims to affirm Stockholmsmässan’s place in Älvsjö and to emphasise the company’s importance for both the Stockholm region and its business community.

Stockholm has established itself as an innovative and creative meeting city, attracting an international audience with its thriving start-up scene, innovation capacity and entrepreneurial spirit. Every year, more than 800,000 visitors come to Stockholmsmässan. Here, people and ideas meet across a wide range of sectors – from gaming and tech to life science and major international congresses and trade fairs.

Stockholmsmässan plays a pivotal role as a driving force for both business and tourism. By creating opportunities for knowledge exchange, innovation and new business, the venue contributes to strengthening Stockholm’s position as an attractive destination for world-class meetings.

“We want to act as a vibrant accelerator for the Stockholm region. Our role is to collaborate, drive progress and connect companies, organisations and people,” says Anna-Karin Werner, Head of Congresses & Guest Events at Stockholmsmässan.

Remaining in Älvsjö – at least until 2035
In connection with its new direction, Stockholmsmässan is launching a campaign across the Stockholm region to highlight the fact that the venue will remain in Älvsjö – continuing operations there at least until 2035.

“This provides a valuable window of time to further develop Stockholmsmässan’s long-term operations in line with our newly defined strategy,” says Mats Viker, CEO of Stockholmsmässan.

The campaign focuses on building brand awareness and pride, while emphasising the unique experience and value of visiting Stockholmsmässan as a meeting place and venue. It will reach both local audiences in Älvsjö and the wider Stockholm population.

For more than 50 years, Stockholmsmässan has welcomed visitors from all over the world to Älvsjö. Here, people have met, ideas have been born and opportunities have been created. Every year, hundreds of thousands of visitors come to take part in fairs, congresses, concerts, conferences and events of all sizes. Our location is unique, our energy is strong, and our plans for the future are ambitious. We will continue to create unforgettable experiences, inspiring encounters and business that makes a difference. And at least until 2035, we’ll keep doing so – right here in the heart of Älvsjö. See you there!
